Today, the class had the incredible opportunity to meet with the team at Illinois Electric Cooperative to learn more about what they do and why they’re passionate supporters of the CEO Program.

During the visit, students gained first-hand insights into how the cooperative invests in our region, not only through essential infrastructure like broadband and electric services, but also by nurturing future leaders and entrepreneurs. Illinois Electric Cooperative shared how their commitment to community development aligns with the CEO Program’s mission to inspire and equip young people with the skills, networks, and confidence to succeed.

The staff also shared some powerful advice with the students: don’t just follow the money, it’s okay not to know exactly what you want to do yet, and always treat people the way you want to be treated.

We’re so grateful to Illinois Electric Cooperative for their ongoing support of the students and for showing them how local organizations are building strong, sustainable rural communities.
