The class visited Main Street in White Hall today to learn about the fast food business. Dewalin Painter, owner and operator, explained what it takes to run a restaurant in a small community. And he should know. He’s been working at Main Street (formerly Dairy Queen) since he was 11 years old when his mom and dad, Betty and Keith Painter, purchased the business.

Dewalin gave the students some great advice when he told them to be reliable and to remember that their time is valuable. He told then there will be unexpected issues and to learn as much as you can about everything you can. You never know when you’ll need to do those “other duties”, such as electrical work, plumbing, and construction. He also told them to remember that relationships are important.
